The Guide of the Ninth Session of the Conference of the Parties "The Call of Baku for Climate Action for the Benefit of the World, Assistance, and Restoration" was launched with the participation of the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Italy, Germany, Uganda, and the United Kingdom. The aim of this initiative is to address the close connection between climate change, conflicts, humanitarian needs with the goal of uniting on an unprecedented scale countries from the northern and southern parts of the world.
The initiative calls for climate action to serve the world and expand support and financing for the most vulnerable countries facing climate change, as well as those immersed in conflicts and high humanitarian needs. Actions are related to acknowledging that negative impacts of climate change - such as water shortages, food insecurity, soil degradation, and displacement - can act as drivers of conflict and instability, especially in the most vulnerable regions affected by climate change.
The initiative reflects the growing recognition of the importance of climate action for the world and calls to support the most vulnerable categories of the population, including women, children, and youth, suffering from these ongoing crises.
The President of the ninth session of the initiative initiated the development of the Call of Baku after broad consultations with numerous international partners, governments, civil society organizations. The Baku Climate and Global Action Center is a platform for fulfilling commitments related to global challenges associated with climate and peace.
In turn, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan reaffirmed the country's commitment to continuing an inclusive, collaborative approach aimed at results for the Center, calling for the adoption of bold and inclusive decisions to transform obligations into concrete measures, to connect climate and peace in the final outcome symbolizing peace and development.
